There is nothing special in this video: an average copter, an average tethered power system with voltage converters, protection system, emergency landing system, wire reel equipped with running-off device … Only 2 hours of flight with engines and all on-board systems powered from the ground. At a height of just 4 meters…

Nothing special. But this is not the demonstration of operational feasibility but a technical solution that we are going to commercialize. There will be a pickup truck carrying the drone landing platform, power generator, wire reel, and communication, positioning and control equipment in its back. This is a fully autonomous and ready-to-use system.

Such a tethered copter will reach a height of 50 to 150 m and hover at a specified height for a very long period – from several hours to 14 days, following which maintenance operations must be performed. The copter can not only fly up and hover, but also follow the moving platform being positioned exactly above it.

The tethered drone can be equipped with long-range optics, laser-illumination tracking equipment, carry a radar station, signal retransmission station…

The copter can be used for a very wide range of purposes: by police, fire-fighting service or rangers, or to monitor high-altitude objects, forest areas or fields, and to find various military applications…
